International Betting Integrity Association Reports Slight Increase in Suspicious Matches
The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), known as the leading global voice on integrity for the licensed betting sector, has recently released its latest industry report. The report reveals a small uptick in the number of suspicious matches reported in the first quarter of 2025. According to the organization, a total of 63 alerts were reported during this period.

The IBIA highlighted that the number of alerts increased by 11% compared to the same period last year. However, there was a slight 3% decrease from the previous quarter. In Q1 of 2024, there were 57 alerts, while in Q4 of the same year, there were 65 alerts.
The data in the report is collected from over 80 IBIA members, who collectively operate more than 140 sports betting brands with an annual turnover exceeding $300 billion.
Focus on Soccer and Tennis
Soccer and tennis remained at the forefront of the alerts, accounting for 40 of the total reported cases. This represents a 14% increase in alerts for these two sports compared to the previous quarter. On the other hand, table tennis saw a significant decrease, with only 9 alerts in Q1 2025, marking a 53% decline from the previous quarter’s 21 alerts.
Geographical Distribution of Alerts
The report also highlighted that more than half of the alerts originated from sporting events in Europe and North America. However, despite reporting 32 alerts from these regions, there was a quarter-on-quarter decrease from the 45 alerts reported in Q4 2024.

Khalid Ali, the CEO of IBIA, commented on the results, describing them as “relatively consistent” with the previous quarter and the same period last year. He noted that soccer and tennis continued to be the main focus of alerts, despite a significant decrease in tennis alerts.
