Rhode Island Governor Nominates Three New Members to Governor’s Workforce Board

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee recently announced his nomination of three new members to the Governor’s Workforce Board. The nominees are Xay Khamsyvoravong, Jessica Key, and Tracey Wiley. The Governor’s Workforce Board plays a crucial role in the state’s workforce development by planning, coordinating, funding, and evaluating education, employment, and training programs.

Xay Khamsyvoravong

Khamsyvoravong, currently a Newport city councilor, previously served as the city’s mayor. With a strong background in finance, he has held positions at Webster Bank, CBRE Investment Management, and PFM Financial Advisors. He is committed to improving Rhode Island’s education system, infrastructure, and housing to provide better opportunities for its residents.

“Career pathways to good-paying jobs are essential to Rhode Island’s economy. I am excited to contribute to creating stronger opportunities for Rhode Islanders,” said Khamsyvoravong.

Jessica Key

Key, the assistant commissioner of workforce and executive director of the Rhode Island Higher Education & Industry Centers, oversees three workforce development centers in the state. She brings extensive experience from her previous role at General Dynamics Electric Boat, where she managed training pipelines and education programs.

“Workforce development is crucial to Rhode Island’s growth. I am grateful for the opportunity to work towards strengthening skills and resources for the next generation of workers,” Key expressed.

Tracey Wiley

Wiley, currently serving as the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Bally’s Corporation, has a background in small business and supplier diversity. As the founder of Rainmaker Industries Group, she focuses on creating opportunities for communities of color to build generational wealth.

“I am honored to join the Workforce Board and contribute to a brighter future for all Rhode Islanders through improved access to education and employment,” Wiley stated.

All three nominees have been submitted to the Rhode Island Senate for further consideration. Governor McKee emphasized the importance of a skilled workforce for the state’s economic prosperity and future success. The incoming board members are expected to bring valuable insights and experience to support Rhode Island workers and achieve the state’s goals for 2030.
